HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! CUTTLEBUG SPOT CHALLENGE

Good morning all
This is my DT card for the Cuttlebug Spot this week. Nilda asked us to make a project to celebrate your country. I decided to make a card to say Happy 4th July to all my lovely US blogger and cricut MB cyber friends I have made, so to all of you this card is to celebrate YOUR country!
I made the card with DS and with list the carts below
Don Juan White card no 4 base and blue/white stars layer
Plantin School Happy and th welded word and shadow
Walk in my Garden of which is from the phrase 'of you'
Sesame St Font July weled shadow and part letters
Celebrations Balloons
I've never used so many carts on one design and I think I need to get a jukebox!!
The papers used are a freebie digital download (I will post the blog when I find it) for the blue/white stars and the rest are from Pink Petticoat CD and I changed the stripey paper to red and white in my graphics programme . Silver mirri card.
I used cut down lolly sticks to hold the balloons for rigidity and they are stuck fast with glossy accents! The of is cuttled with Quickutz embossing folder Stripes Label and July is cuttled with Swiss Dots embossing folder. I added a thin piece of red ribbon to finish off.
I would like to say that my inspiration for the 4 shaped card came from remembering a 4th birthday card that my fabulously talented MB friend Donna Mundinger made last year so thank you Donna! If you haven't seen Donna's blog I urge you to visit as Donna is the Queen of shaped cards. See her magnificent work here.
I really enjoyed making this card and would love you to join us over at the Cuttlebug Spot this week!
Have a great week everyone!

Awww

Good afternoon
Hope you're all having a good weekend. It's been so humid today, no sun just humid and now we're having rain! Good old British weather!
My friend requested this card for a brand new baby boy Alexis and sent me a photo from her phone so this is what I did. It's not a fussy card but I like it and baby Alexis looks adorable so I am posting picture and details as I use my blog so much for reference for measurements etc if I want to repeat a card design.
I used a 6x6" white card blank covered with stripey paper from my stash. I printed the photo @3x3" and the frame is cut from Accent Essentials scalloped square frame cut @ 4" cuttled with swiss dots and pop dotted. The text is computer generated LDJ miss me and matted on lemon and pop dotted. The baby and heart buttons are from my stash.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend I'm off to sit in front of a fan as this humidity and the menopause are not a great combination lol!!

MEET OCTAVIA THE OCTOPUS!

Good evening
We're having a really loud thunderstorm here in Wales and it's teaming down with rain needless to say every time there is lightning I'm sat here with my hands over my ears sio I don't hear the thunder!
I made this card earlier using one of Lily Boos fabulous images from The Under The Sea collection. Now I'm no colourer so I have to try and detract your eyes from my colouring! I printed out this cute octopus on White card and then twice on pink card. I coloured the white layer with chalks and some stickles and cut the octopus twice from the pink leaving only 4 arms/tentacles on the top layer and pop dotted them. I pierced her ears lol and gave her a nice set of hoop earrings (jump rings) and a siver bead necklace and a nice pink lacy hat. When I first saw this image I thought with all those arms she was born to shop and as you can see Octavia is all dressed up and off shopping with a bag on every arm! (for the bags I cut down some confetti handbags from my stash to make them smaller. I wanted to put born to shop as a sentiment but my printer is playing up so I found this Love To Shop brad in my stash. Background papers are from Pink Petticoat printed on pink card and an adhesive lacy border.
Pop over to Lily Boos as there are some gorgeous images being adde d all the time and you just print and let your imagination do the rest!!
Thanks for looking and see you soon!

A TASTE OF SUMMER!

Good morning all
For this week's challenge over at the Cuttlebug Spot Nilda asked us to to do a card based on end of school or beginning of Summer. I chose beginning of Summer and decided to make an icecream card as my childhood memories of Summer were that when I had ice creams I knew Summer was here!
It's quite a large card (white base) and I designed the card with DS and my cricut by simply welding some rectangles from Plantin School and the ice cream border feature on doodlecharms. I cut the border ice cream in a creamy pearlescent card and cuttled the cones wit QK Diamonds and dots folder and the cut the layers twice in pink, mint and lemon pearlescent card. The mint and pink are embossed with elegant swirls cbug folder and a portion cut away of the top layer to insert the chocolate 'flakes' I made which are just a strip of brown card embossed with cb distressed stripes. I cut some teeny squares of brown for the choc chips on the mint choc chip ice cream, swiped some red ink over the pink ice cream for the rasberry ripple and covered the lemon sorbet in diamond dust. The gingham and dotty paper are Making Memories and the little labels on the ice creams and sentiment are computer generated. The cherries on the tops are clear dome stickers with red card,
This was a fun challenge! Pop over to the Cuttlebug spot and see the great ideas everyone came up with and we'd love you to join in and see your ideas too!
Have a great day everyone

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DADS OUT THERE!

Good morning
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and all the dads out there are getting spoiled on Father's day!
This is a card I made yesterday for my ex father in law and also made one the for Connor's grampy (my dad). I personalised the inside so the outside is quite generic.
The backing paper is from Clare Curds Signature Range by Papermania and the letters are cut from Don Juan @ 2" in black and shadow in silver mirri card. I embossed the letters with one of the new QK embossing folders called stripes label which I really like. I added some bling!! I had some gem stars and coloured some of them red with a permanent marker. Did I get away with it? Does bling look ok on a mancard! The Happy and Day are computer generated in red, font is Dragonwick and layered and popped on the card
Tanks for looking and have a lovely day!

Happy Father's Day!

Hi everyone
This is my DT card for the Cuttlebug Spot this week. Nilda asked us to think of Father's day and make a card for dads grandads Uncles etc.
I decided to give my card a nautical feel as my dad was a Naval Officer in his younger days. I designed the card in DS with Plantin School and an anchor from Going Places(only because Lab had not been added to DS and I find out today that it has in a new update!) all in shadow and welded for the card base. The backing papers are printed from Pink Petticoat Daisy Daisy CD. the anchor was cut again in shadow in navy and in gold mirricard twice and the top one pop dotted and cuttled (sorry I don't remember what the folder is called.) The ships wheel is cutfrom Lab, Dad is from Beyond Birthdays cut in white and gold mirri shadow and the sentiment is computer generated and printed on gold inkjet film and punched with 1 1/2" round punch. And finally as I am a hoarder and keep things because you never know when they will come in useful the chain around the anchor is a piece of cheap costume jewelry I had in the 80's or 90's!! lol!!
Thanks for looking and don't forget to pop over to the Cuttlebug Spot and see all the gorgeous and beautiful cards the team have made this week and join in and get your Father's Day card done too!

HAVE A 'JELLY' HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Good morning
Hope you are all looking forward to the weekend. I am, I'm going down to West Wales to open up my caravan for the first time this year! With the rotten weather and being ill I haven't been down yet and the caravan park has been open since 1st April!! So really looking forward to it and hope the weather stays fine!
Anyway I just wanted to post a card I did for the Lily Boo DT I am on. I used the jelly fish image from the Under Water Collection. I made a shadow box using DS and George Cartridge. I printed the image on to inkjet acetate and coloured it with permanent markers and stickled it from the back for a glittery effect. The acetate panel was then adhered behind the oval aperture. I did a couple more jelly fish which I added to the back inside of the shadow box. The backing paper is illusion film which is a plastic like material and when you move it it moves and just looks like water (I hope this makes sense!) I cut some seaweed in olive green pearlescent card which I cuttled with the CB floral screen embossing folder and some coral in pink and orange pearlescent which I cuttled with swiss dots and layered them on the front of the card. The sentiment is computer generated and font is fruitopia. Finally I added some cloud 9 raindots for the bubbles. I had fun making this card I hope you like it! Lily-Boos has some wonderful images all very different and Sam the lady who is the artist is very talented. Pop over and have a look at the image collections, they come in sets of 6 images for just £1.99 and she also has some freebies on the site too. These are so easy just print and colour!
I'm off now so won't be able to check in til Sunday evening when I get back as no internet connection at the caravan park! Have a great weekend everyone!

WONDERFUL GOODIES FROM SANDI 'CELTIC WOMAN'

Good evening
Well what a day I've had! Today was the day that I was going to update my blog not with cards but with things I should have put on a while ago. Why doesn't anything ever go to plan?!
Got a phone call from my sons school. He is in his first year GCSE's and they have so many exams this week and next week and he is quite anxious about it all so 2 phone calls later I wasn't really capable of doing much at all. Connor has autism and I know a lot of children get anxious over exams (I know I did many moons ago!) but obviously I worry for him with his autism and understanding and knowing the anxiousness he can feel with his autism. I'm probably not explaining this very well. Anyway to cut a long story short the worry before I went to pick him up rendered me unable to get much done today!! He's home now and ok and revising now for more exams tomorrow.
So I am determined to make a few posts! I am having a glass of wine and feeling more relaxed now!
At Easter I was very very lucky to win one of Sandi's fabulous cards from her 'Peeps' collection by leaving a comment on her blog. Well when I received it not only was it even better in real life (if that could be possible!) but she sent me some gorgeous goodies too, see all of them in the photographs above!
Thank you Sandi so so much.
You can see Sandi's incredible work on her blog http://wwwpapertrail.celticwoman.blogspot.com/ Sandi does the most original creative work I have ever seen and so generously shares her techniques too.

ANNIVERSARY CARD

Good morning all
Here I am and sorry I haven't blogged for a week but I'm finally finally feeling much better after the bug I had. I did my DT card for cuttlebug spot and have even made 3 birtday cards this morning and finally started my DT card for Lily Boos at last! How long does stickles take to dry on acetate??! I have to go to work soon so I will probably finish it tomorrow! Oh and it's my Birthday today hmm fancy going to work on your birthday! I don't mind I 've had lots of lovely cards and gifts and loads of lovely calls this morning from friends and family so am already having a wonderful day!
Anyway I digress! On to the details for my DT card. Nilda asked us to do an anniversary card so this is what I came up with. The card is 6x6" white. Hearts are from Doodlecharms and are cut at real size dial 2@4" and 2@3". The large heart is embossed with one of the new quickutz folders diamond and dots and the smaller heart with cb divine swirls. I then sandwiched the white maribou feathers between the 2 big hearts with glue and pop dots. The small heart is pop dotted too. I then blinged the hearts with gems and also used prima say it in crystals on the card. Organza ribbon across the middle and sentiment is computer generated and pop dotted too. Pop over to the Cuttlebug spot and see the fabulous cards the DT have made this week and if you join in the challenge there's another great prize to be won!!
Thanks for looking and have a lovely day
Julie xx who is still finding bits of maribou feathers even though I've cleaned up!! :)

'BEST FRIENDS!'

Good evening
I am excited to say that I am now a proud member of the Cuttlebug Spot DT and here is my first card. Nilda asked us to make a card using a stamped and coloured image. Now this was a big challenge for me in itself as I have never done it! I found this cute Precious Moments image download for free on the internet and 'coloured' it with promarkers. As you can see I need lots more practise! In an attempt to hide my naive colouring skills I used my inksentials opaque white pen and polka dotted the dresses and shoes! The card is 6x6", pink backing paper from my stash. The frame I made to fit round my image in DS and is the scalloped square frame from Accent Essentials cart cut in white card and cuttled with Swiss Dots embossing folder. I then cut a smaller sized frame in pink sized to make a 'mount' within the frame. I gave the little girls a pearl necklace and bracelet. added some flowers and pearl centres from my stash and some white ribbon from CostCo and the stick pin is by Fancy Pants. Sentiment is computer generated font is Cheri.
Please come over and join us at the Cuttlebug spot and show us your wonderful creations.
Thanks for looking
